Mayawati Questions Akhilesh Yadav's Explanation on 2019 Alliance Break-up

BSP chief Mayawati on Friday challenged Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav's recent explanation for their 2019 alliance break-up, questioning its credibility. She claimed Yadav's failure to communicate with BSP leaders led to the dissolution, which she said was necessary to protect her party's honor.

Yadav had previously accused Mayawati of making allegations to cover up her own shortcomings. This came after Mayawati released a booklet detailing the reasons behind the alliance's collapse, citing Yadav's lack of responsiveness following a poor electoral performance.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BSP and SP secured only 15 seats together, with Mayawati's party winning 10 seats and Yadav's party securing 5. Mayawati also criticized the recent SP-Congress alliance in the 2024 elections, accusing them of misleading the Pichhda, Dalit, and Alpasankhyak communities.
