A total of 483 candidates have filed their nominations for the third and final phase of the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, covering 40 constituencies in seven districts.

Thursday marked the last day for submitting nominations for this phase, which is scheduled to take place on October 1.

According to a statement from the Chief Electoral Officer, 518 nomination papers were submitted by the 483 candidates for this phase.

The breakdown of submissions is as follows: Jammu district led with 122 entries, followed by Baramulla (111), Kupwara (80), Bandipora (50), Kathua (47), Udhampur (40), and Samba (33).

The nomination papers will undergo scrutiny on Friday, and candidates have until September 17 to withdraw their nominations.
