In a bold move to tackle rising unemployment, Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi announced the launch of the Business Blaster program for 2024-25. The state government will allocate 40 crore rupees as seed money for student start-ups, aimed at transforming students into job creators.
Atishi criticized the BJP-led central government, stating, 'Unemployment is the biggest problem today. Youth unemployment has reached 42 per cent. India ranks third globally in unemployment. According to a report, if India has to provide jobs to all its educated citizens, 90 million non-agricultural jobs are required by 2030.' She emphasized that the Kejriwal government is committed to changing the scenario for Delhi's youth.
The Business Blaster program, which has been running in Delhi government schools for the past three years, will see participation from 2.45 lakh students this year. They will form start-up groups, with the top 150 start-ups open for public investment. 'Some private schools have also voluntarily joined the initiative,' Atishi added, underscoring the broad appeal and significance of the program initiated by then Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in 2021.
