During the discussions, Putin expressed hope that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit Russia's Kazan next month for the annual BRICS summit. Additionally, Putin proposed a bilateral meeting with Modi on October 22 at the summit to analyze bilateral engagements and discuss 'future-oriented' actions.

Doval's visit is part of a broader diplomatic initiative, following Modi's high-profile trip to Ukraine's capital, Kyiv. In Kyiv, Modi emphasized the need for Ukraine and Russia to engage in dialogue to end the ongoing war, reiterating India's readiness to play an active role in restoring peace.
