Rebel BJP leader Naveen Goyal on Wednesday filed his nomination as an Independent candidate, walking barefoot into the returning officer's office.
A large crowd gathered at the old jail complex ground for Goyal's nomination rally, where he was assured of victory. Goyal stated that politics for him is not about power.
Goyal envisions Gurugram as a leader in education, medicine, employment, women's safety, and empowerment. He emphasized that the people of Gurugram are his symbol and he relies on public trust.
Despite lacking a party symbol, Goyal, former state convener of BJP's Business Cell, expressed his commitment to working zealously for Gurugram's development if elected.
Having quit the BJP five days ago, Goyal is contesting the election as an Independent.
