Pop megastar Taylor Swift publicly endorsed Kamala Harris on Tuesday following Harris' debate with Republican opponent Donald Trump, lauding the Democratic nominee as a 'steady-handed, gifted leader.' Swift, addressing her 280 million Instagram followers, asserted she will vote for Harris in the November 5 election, marking the most significant celebrity endorsement for Harris to date. Polls currently indicate a tight race between the candidates.

'I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,' Swift stated. Accompanied by her cat, Swift signed the post 'childless cat lady,' referencing a past remark by Trump's running mate JD Vance about Democrats.

Swift also commended Harris' running mate, Tim Walz, citing his steadfast support for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women's bodily autonomy. Walz, appearing on MSNBC, expressed gratitude and encouraged Swift's fans to mobilize.

Trump dismissed Swift's endorsement, commenting, 'I was not a Taylor fan.' During a Fox News interview, he remarked, 'She's very liberal and always endorses Democrats, which will likely affect her market standing.'

Reproductive rights have resurfaced as a pivotal issue since the U.S. Supreme Court's 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Harris has spotlighted Trump's influence on the court's decision as a threat to these rights. Trump has defended the ruling while advocating for state-level abortion resolution.

Swift's post addressed her concerns over AI and misinformation, sparked by Trump's spread of a fake image of her supporting him. She emphasized the importance of transparency in her electoral intentions. Swift's endorsement follows her support for Biden in 2020, joining a trend of entertainment industry figures backing Harris.

Harris, residing in Los Angeles' Brentwood with her husband Doug Emhoff, a former entertainment lawyer, has drawn significant support from Hollywood. Following Swift's endorsement, the Harris-Walz campaign launched new campaign merchandise inspired by Swift's fans.
