Maharashtra NCP chief Sunil Tatkare confirmed on Tuesday that party leaders engaged in discussions with Union minister Amit Shah about a united front for the forthcoming assembly elections. Tatkare, along with party president and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and working president Praful Patel, met Shah for these talks.

'Our aim is to regain power. We had an in-depth discussion about contesting the elections together,' Tatkare stated, noting that the chief minister's post was not part of the discussions.

The Nationalist Congress Party, under Ajit Pawar's leadership, is a member of the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP and Shiv Sena. However, the rival NCP faction led by Sharad Pawar has implied potential discord within the alliance, suggesting a possible split. Additionally, Tatkare mentioned the positive reception of the state's Ladki Bahin Yojana for women and the decision to waive farmers' electricity bills, emphasizing the need to communicate these successes to the public.
