In a significant turnout, over six lakh people have enrolled as BJP members in Delhi within the initial week of the party's nationwide membership drive, officials confirmed on Monday.

The campaign was rolled out on September 2 at 13,000 polling booths across 70 assembly constituencies in the capital.

'In just a week, we have successfully inducted six lakh members, and the figure is expected to rise in the coming days,' said a senior Delhi BJP functionary. The initiative aims to add a minimum of 200 members from each polling booth, contributing to a larger goal of enrolling 10 crore people nationwide by October end.

Delhi BJP teams are facilitating the registration process via mobile numbers, QR Codes, the NaMo app, and the party's website. A five-member committee led by North West Delhi MP Yogender Chandolia has been set up to oversee smooth operations.

'Most memberships are being procured through missed calls on the party's dedicated number,' noted a committee member.

Currently, the Delhi BJP boasts around 27-28 lakh members. The intensified membership drive is envisioned to bolster the party's support base for the upcoming 2025 Assembly elections, potentially offsetting the Aam Aadmi Party's stronghold in the region.
