In an electoral milestone, women voters surpass men in six out of the eight assembly segments in Srinagar as the region gears up for the legislative polls on September 25. According to election officials, out of the 7,74,462 registered voters in Srinagar district, 3,87,778 are female, while 3,86,654 are male, and 30 are registered under the third gender category.

Ecclesiastic Shalteng and Eidgah segments are the only constituencies where men outnumber women. In total, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has set up 932 polling stations, including 885 urban and 47 rural stations, to facilitate smooth voting.

Zadibal segment leads with the highest number of voters, totaling 1,12,864, comprising 56,408 males and 56,451 females, plus five transgender voters. Similarly, Hazratbal constituency reports 1,12,541 voters with an almost balanced gender ratio. Polling arrangements are being meticulously planned to ensure a peaceful and organized election process on the specified date.
