CIA Director William Burns revealed that a more detailed ceasefire proposal aimed at ending the Gaza conflict and freeing hostages will be introduced soon. The disclosure came during a Financial Times event in London, where Burns appeared with MI6 head Richard Moore.
Burns, in collaboration with Qatar and Egypt, is striving to secure a ceasefire. 'We will make this more detailed proposal, I hope in the next several days,' he stated, highlighting the requirement for political will and difficult compromises from both sides.
The context for these negotiations follows Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7, resulting in significant casualties and hostages. Additionally, Burns and Moore discussed their continued support for Ukraine in its war against Russia, describing recent actions by Ukraine in the Kursk region as 'audacious and bold'.
