Former Haryana Minister Karan Dev Kamboj, who previously served as the state BJP OBC Morcha chief, announced his resignation from all Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) posts on Thursday. He cited injustice in the distribution of tickets as the primary reason for his departure.

On Wednesday, the BJP released its first list of 67 candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections on October 5. Kamboj expressed his dissatisfaction with the party's decision, particularly regarding the Indri constituency. He stated, "My family and I have been part of the BJP since the time of Jan Sangh. I have worked with a lot of dedication. Now Congress culture has come into the BJP as well...Yesterday, a few people who created so much trouble were made to join the BJP and were given tickets...I worked for 5 years and made the maximum OBC community join the BJP...This is cheating on the rest of the party workers. We will object to this."

Kamboj also commented on the BJP's chances of forming a government for the third time in Haryana. "Congress will form the government here and the BJP's dream will remain a dream," he said. The development is being viewed as a setback for the BJP's preparations for the assembly polls.

The BJP has fielded Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini from Ladwa and former state Home Minister Anil Vij from Ambala Cantt. Other prominent candidates include Gian Chand Gupta from Panchkula, Kanwar Pal Gurjar from Jagadhri, Sunita Duggal from Ratia, Bhavya Bishnoi from Adampur, and Tejpal Tanwar from Sohna. Voting for the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will take place on October 5, with the last date for filing nominations being September 12. The votes will be counted on October 8.
