Tragic Demands for Justice: Kolkata Doctor's Murder Sparks Nationwide Outcry

The father of a doctor, who was brutally raped and murdered in Kolkata, claimed police hastened her cremation against the family's wishes. The father of the doctor who was raped and murdered in Kolkata revealed that the police forced the family to cremate her body even though they needed more time with her.

Kolkata police did not respond to Reuters' requests for comments on the incident. The Aug. 9 attack at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital has led to widespread protests across India, with the public demanding justice for the young doctor killed during a 36-hour shift.

A police volunteer has been arrested and is currently in judicial custody. Protesters are also calling for improved hospital security, citing deficiencies such as lack of resting rooms for doctors, CCTV cameras, and adequate security personnel.
