The Congress party took a stern action on Thursday by expelling a leader in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district for defying the spirit of its alliance with the National Conference by filing nomination papers as an independent candidate.
A spokesperson for the J-K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) announced that Chowdhary Gulzar Khatana has been removed from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect.
Khatana had filed his nomination papers for the Kokernag (ST) assembly segment independently, which breached the terms of the Congress-NC alliance. The spokesperson emphasized that the party will not compromise on the sanctity of the alliance.
