In a significant development, BJP's national spokesperson Amit Malviya has claimed that the West Bengal government and RG Kar Hospital concealed the crime scene of a trainee doctor's rape and murder. Malviya referred to a letter, allegedly authored by Dr. Sandip Ghosh, former principal of the hospital, to support his accusations.
According to Malviya, the letter reveals that the hospital initiated renovations near the crime scene just a day after the incident, contradicting the official narrative that renovations began before the crime. He described this as proof of an attempted cover-up and called for the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to ensure a fair investigation.
Malviya further alleged that the hospital administration, the Kolkata Police, and the Chief Minister colluded to destroy evidence and sanitize the crime scene. He demanded a public release of call records and suggested polygraph tests for the Chief Minister and the Kolkata Police Commissioner to unveil the truth.
The letter, dated August 10, ordered urgent repairs and renovations of on-duty doctors' rooms and attached toilets. This document, coupled with nationwide protests and arrests linked to the hospital administration and other implicated parties, puts increased pressure on the state government for accountability.
