Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed confidence in Singapore's fourth generation leadership, lauding the city-state's remarkable progress and touting it as a model for developing nations worldwide.

During his talks with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Modi congratulated Wong and wished him success in his new role. Wong recently succeeded Lee Hsien Loong and is leading the fourth generation People's Action Party (PAP) politicians' government as prime minister and finance minister.

Modi highlighted that Singapore is not just a partner country but an inspiration for developing nations. He emphasized the collaborative efforts between India and Singapore in areas such as skilling, digitalisation, and advanced manufacturing.

Modi flew to Singapore on Wednesday after a visit to Brunei, underscoring Singapore's role as a facilitator of India's Act East policy. He also announced the establishment of India's first Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre in Singapore.

Modi emphasized the strong bilateral cooperation that has resulted in increased trade, mutual investment, and various strategic initiatives. He called for a collaborative action plan to mark the 60th anniversary of India-Singapore relations in 2025.

Modi reiterated India's commitment to working with Singapore to promote regional peace and prosperity, thanking the city-state for its warm hospitality.
