The ruling BJP on Wednesday announced its first list of 67 candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has been shifted from Karnal to the Ladwa seat, while Om Prakash Dhankar and Anil Vij will contest from Badli and Ambala Cantt, respectively.
The list includes eight women and several members of prominent political families, aiming to accommodate many senior leaders. More than half of the BJP's 41 sitting MLAs have been renominated. Former Haryana BJP chief Om Prakash Dhankar and veteran party leader Anil Vij are among the prominent candidates.
New entrants like Devender Singh Babli, Sanjay Kablana, and Shruti Choudhry have also been given tickets. The BJP is targeting a third consecutive term in the Haryana Assembly elections, scheduled for October 5, with Chief Minister Saini as the party's face.
