India and Brunei on Wednesday committed to respecting freedom of navigation and overflight in accordance with international law. This pledge followed bilateral talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

Elevating bilateral ties to an 'Enhanced Partnership', Prime Minister Modi expressed appreciation for Brunei's hosting of ISRO’s Telemetry Tracking and Telecommand Station, aiding India's space initiatives.

According to a joint statement, the visit underscores India's dedication to strengthening its 'Act East Policy,' while noting Brunei's strategic maritime location in the contentious South China Sea.
