Bobi Wine, a prominent Ugandan opposition figure, was shot in the leg during a confrontation with police just outside the capital, Kampala, on Tuesday, according to his opposition group.

Photos shared online showed Wine surrounded by followers who shouted that he had been shot before helping him into a waiting car. The National Unity Platform, Wine's party, which holds the most opposition seats in the national assembly, claimed on X that Ugandan security forces had attempted to take his life.

The incident occurred in Bulindo, Wakiso District, on the outskirts of Kampala. It remains unclear whether Wine was hit by a live bullet or a tear gas canister, but images from close associates revealed a bleeding wound below his left knee.
