The Congress has announced ongoing discussions with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) concerning a potential alliance for Haryana's forthcoming assembly elections. However, no conclusive decision has been made yet.
Speculation about an alliance gained momentum after AAP leader Sanjay Singh welcomed reports of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's interest in collaboration. Reports have indicated that Gandhi expressed this interest during Congress' Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting.
Deepak Babaria, AICC general secretary for Haryana, confirmed the talks but stressed that an official announcement would follow once a decision is finalized. He emphasized the need to prevent vote splitting to defeat the BJP.
The Congress CEC has finalised 34 candidates out of a proposed 49 for the upcoming polls. Voting will take place on October 5, with results to be announced on October 8.
