Several cars in the motorcade transporting Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz collided while en route to a campaign stop in Milwaukee on Monday. Although Walz was unharmed, a staff member traveling in a van carrying reporters sustained injuries and received medical attention.
The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. local time. Vice President Kamala Harris personally contacted Walz after the crash to ascertain his well-being. The affected vehicles were near the motorcade's rear, distant from the front where Walz was riding.
A pool report detailed the violent nature of the collision, describing how passengers were thrown forward. The crash followed a brief interaction at the airport between Walz, his wife Gwen, and Wisconsin Rep. Gwen Moore before heading to the campaign event.
