The Enforcement Directorate (ED) detained Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan on Monday. The investigative agency conducted a raid at his residence earlier in the day, related to alleged irregularities in Waqf properties. Khan serves as the Chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board.

As ED officials escorted the AAP MLA from his home, Khan proclaimed his innocence to his supporters. Earlier, his cousin Minnatullah Khan emphasized that investigations by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and Central Bureau of Investigation had yielded no evidence against him.

In a self-recorded video, Khan claimed continuous harassment by the investigative agency over the past two years. He highlighted his critical family situation, noting that his mother-in-law, a cancer patient, had recently undergone surgery and was currently residing at his home. He condemned the ED's actions as an attempt to break the AAP.

AAP leaders rallied behind Khan, accusing the central government of malice. MP Sanjay Singh criticized the ED for its investigation tactics, while Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj alleged that the pressure was politically motivated ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

Earlier this year, the Rouse Avenue Court granted Khan bail in a related case. The ED had accused him of evading investigations and elevating his role from witness to accused. A charge sheet was filed against several individuals and a firm, alleging that Rs 100 crore worth of Waqf properties were illegally leased and that 32 contractual employees were improperly appointed during Khan's tenure as chairman.
