On Monday morning, Tunisian presidential candidate Ayachi Zammel was taken into custody by police, as confirmed by a member of his campaign team. The arrest occurred at his residence around 3:00 a.m., with suspicions directed towards falsifying popular endorsements.
Mahdi Abdel Jawad, a campaign team member, criticized the arrest, calling it absurd and a clear move to exclude Zammel from the upcoming election.
Meanwhile, the electoral commission, poised to reveal the final list of election candidates later on Monday, has not yet issued any comments regarding the incident.
