Political Tug-of-War: PML-N and PTI’s Standoff Over Dialogue
The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) opposes dialogue with the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) unless its founder, Imran Khan, apologizes for the May 9 violence. Despite reports of potential negotiations through Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai, PML-N leaders remain firm against talks without preconditions.

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has strongly opposed engaging in dialogue with the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party amid reports of indirect communications.
Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal stated that any dialogue would require an apology from PTI's founder, Imran Khan, for the May 9 violence last year. The protests had seen attacks on public properties, including military installations, reportedly following Khan's arrest in a corruption case.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also voiced his opposition to talks with PTI, despite earlier attempts to extend an olive branch. As discussions about negotiations circulate, PML-N insisted on accountability before any direct engagement.
