In a bid to resolve the ongoing political crisis in Pakistan, the second round of discussions between the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) representatives ended on Thursday. An agreement to continue negotiations was reached, aimed at easing the political tension that has gripped the nation.
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, who facilitated the talks, addressed the media, praising the atmosphere of cooperation and confirming that both parties are scheduled to meet again next week. The dialogue saw the PTI raise the issue of detained political leaders and propose a commission to investigate contentious political events.
Senator Irfan Siddiqui read the joint communique, highlighting PTI's demand for the release of political prisoners and a meeting with their detained leader, Imran Khan. The government agreed to these requests, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar invited PTI to submit their demands in writing in the next round of talks.
