A delegation from the Delhi Legislative Assembly, headed by Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, sought President Droupadi Murmu's urgent intervention on Friday over an alleged constitutional crisis in the capital.
The delegation, including MLAs Mohan Singh Bisht, Om Prakash Sharma, Ajay Mahawar, Abhay Verma, Anil Bajpai, Jitender Mahajan, Kartar Singh Tanwar, and ex-minister Rajkumar Anand, submitted a memorandum calling for the dismissal of the AAP government under Article 356 of the Constitution. The memorandum accused the government of delaying key orders and creating a 'complete breakdown of governance.' Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been jailed for corruption charges but has not resigned, worsening the crisis, they argued.
The memorandum pointed out the government's failure to address crucial issues including infrastructure and financial mismanagement, particularly highlighting the unprepared balance sheets of the Delhi Jal Board. Allegations of corruption, such as the multi-crore Delhi Liquor Scam and irregularities in public funds, further illustrated the government's failings. The delegation urged the President to restore constitutional order and accountability in Delhi.
