Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann recently made derogatory comments about BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, igniting a heated political exchange. Mann referred to 'rape' when questioned by a journalist about Ranaut's interview concerning the farmers' protest.
Ranaut had previously claimed that a 'Bangladesh-like' scenario was averted due to India's strong leadership, while alleging incidents of rape and violence during the protest. She sharply responded to Mann's comments, condemning the trivialization of rape in India.
Renu Bhatia, chairperson of the Haryana State Commission for Women, also condemned Mann's statement, calling it an insult to Indian women. Mann, who has a history of political controversy, attended a party event in Karnal amidst the ongoing Haryana Assembly polls.
