The Canadian government clarified on Wednesday that it fully respects Mexican sovereignty and has no plans to interfere in its internal affairs. This statement came after the Canadian ambassador criticized a planned judicial reform in Mexico, suggesting it could impact investment.
A spokesperson for Global Affairs Canada informed Reuters that while Canadian investors had voiced concerns, Canada 'deeply values its relationship with Mexico, a key ally, neighbor, and friend.'
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador revealed on Tuesday that he had paused the Mexican government's relationship with the U.S. and Canadian embassies, labeling their criticisms as disrespectful to Mexico's sovereignty.
