Sporadic instances of violence marked the BJP-sponsored 12-hour shutdown in West Bengal on Wednesday, significantly impacting life in the state. Bandh supporters clashed with police and ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers in several areas.
A notable clash occurred in Bhatpara, where TMC supporters allegedly fired at BJP's local leader Priyangu Pandey's car. While Pandey escaped unhurt, two others suffered bullet injuries, prompting heated altercations between BJP and TMC leaders that further escalated tensions.
The bandh partially disrupted daily activities, with fewer vehicles on the streets and lower attendance in schools and offices. Despite the turmoil, both government offices and major industrial operations remained largely unaffected.
