BJP MP Jagdambika Pal has confirmed that Waqf properties will continue to be managed by Waqf authorities and will not be acquired by the government, amid controversy surrounding the Waqf Amendment Bill. Pal, who leads the Joint Parliamentary Committee, noted that all feedback and concerns are being taken into account.

The committee is in the process of drafting a comprehensive report, which will be presented in the upcoming parliamentary session. Pal stated, "The government has brought a bill for a better administration of Waqf property. We are calling everyone and listening to their concerns. A report will be submitted in the first week of the next session." In addressing public worries over government intentions, Pal reiterated, "Waqf properties will remain under Waqf control. The government will not acquire any Waqf property."

Pal also held discussions with Former Union Minister of Minority Affairs K Rehman over the bill. This comes after AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi expressed strong opposition, citing that the bill threatens the existence and autonomy of Waqf properties. Opposition parties argue the amendments could lead to government overreach and compromise the autonomy of Waqf institutions.
