West Bengal Police on Tuesday dismissed allegations made by the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, stating that claims of four student activists being missing were false. Instead, the police confirmed the students' arrest for their alleged involvement in a conspiracy of murder and attempted murder.

The police clarified that the four activists were planning large-scale violence during the 'Nabanna Abhijan' scheduled for Tuesday. Bengal Police posted on X that the suspects were taken into custody to ensure public safety, and their families were notified accordingly.

Adhikari, however, continued to assert that the students were untraceable and accused the Mamata Banerjee-led state government of detaining them without proper notification. The BJP leader vowed to hold the police accountable if anything happened to the students and stated that the families had approached the Calcutta High Court against the police actions.
