Swedish police announced on Wednesday that a teenager had been shot in an attempted murder at a Stockholm school. The suspect has been apprehended, and the situation is now under control.

The shooting took place early in the morning at a school in the southern part of Stockholm, according to the police. "One person has been shot and taken to the hospital for treatment. The person was awake and talkative when we got there," a police spokesperson stated. The spokesperson further mentioned that the school is not currently an active crime scene and that no additional perpetrators are being sought. "We judge that we have the situation under control at the school," the spokesperson added, while declining to provide further comments.

The school principal revealed that both the victim and the suspect were students at the school, with a personal conflict between them cited as the motive behind the attack. "They had a conflict a year or so ago, but that was resolved," principal Kaj Majuri said during a press conference. "Now a conflict arose, which spiraled out of control in a terrible way." Sweden has seen an increase in gang violence involving minors over the past decade and currently has the highest per-capita rate of gun violence in the European Union.
