Yashwant Sinha, the former Union finance minister, is poised to introduce a new political party called Atal Vichar Manch (AVM) as the Jharkhand assembly elections loom. Discussions about the formation of this party took place at a meeting with his supporters at Atal Sewa Kendra in Hazaribag on Sunday evening.
Prior to his departure for Delhi on Monday, Sinha commented to reporters that a definite decision on establishing AVM would be made following consultations with various societal segments. Sunday's meeting was chaired by Surendra Kumar Sinha and included supporters of both Yashwant Sinha and his son, Jayant Sinha, who expressed keenness to see the new party emerge as an electoral alternative in Jharkhand.
A meeting attendee disclosed that the proposed party's name, Atal Vichar Manch, was inspired by the principles of the late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, under whom Yashwant Sinha served as a cabinet minister.
