Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged comprehensive support to the state amid its devastating flood crisis. At least 26 deaths have been reported, and over 1.17 lakh people have become homeless since the floods began on August 19.
In his communication with the Prime Minister, Saha detailed the grim flood situation, receiving assurance of full support from the central government. The Chief Minister praised Modi for his commitment to the people of Tripura during this difficult time.
Additionally, Saha discussed the crisis with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Centre has allocated Rs 40 crore towards relief and rehabilitation for those affected. An all-party meeting was convened to strategize the state's recovery, with infrastructure and property damages estimated at around Rs 15,000 crore.
