Chicago police confirmed on Thursday that they are not altering their tactics ahead of the final night of pro-Palestinian demonstrations at the Democratic National Convention, following a nonviolent march that saw no injuries or arrests.
On Wednesday night, over 2,000 pro-Palestinian protesters marched peacefully past a park where a pro-Israel assembly had taken place earlier. Wednesday's demonstration came after violent clashes the previous day between police and protesters outside the Israeli Consulate, which led to 56 arrests.
Police Superintendent Larry Snelling reported that Wednesday's protest concluded without any arrests or injuries, attributing the peaceful outcome to cooperation between organizers and law enforcement.
