Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait on Wednesday alleged that a conspiracy has been orchestrated to specifically target the TMC government in West Bengal. This follows the sexual assault and murder of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College. Tikait claimed that many similar incidents have occurred nationwide but are not receiving the same attention. He suggested that the focus on this case is due to West Bengal's opposition government.

Addressing the accusations, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized Tikait's comments, calling them 'the most shameful statement.' Poonawalla also condemned Rahul Gandhi's remarks that the incident was being used as a distraction and termed the allegations against the Mamata Banerjee-led government as propaganda.

Amidst rising tensions, the Supreme Court formed a 10-member National Task Force on Tuesday to recommend measures for preventing violence and ensuring safe working conditions for medical professionals. The task force includes Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin. The court has directed the task force to submit an interim report within three weeks and a final report within two months. Additionally, the CBI and the West Bengal government were asked to file status reports on the case and a related mob attack incident at the hospital.
