PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday asserted that Jammu and Kashmir has been going through a 'difficult phase' for the past five years, tracing the start to the abrogation of Article 370.

Speaking at a function at the PDP headquarters, where former Rajouri MLA Chaudhary Qamar Hussain rejoined the party, Mufti emphasized that her party's goal is to achieve peace with dignity, rather than a 'silence of graveyards.'

Hussain, who had previously been expelled from the PDP in 2020 for meeting with the J&K lieutenant governor and foreign envoys, was welcomed back. The event also saw new members Zaffar Ahmad Mir and Javid Iqbal Ganie joining the PDP, bolstering the party's strength.
