At the 'Sadbhavana Diwas' event marking Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray emphasized that despite their bitter history, Shiv Sena and Congress were never vindictive towards each other.

Speaking at the event, Thackeray noted that Central agencies did not harass Shiv Sena leaders even after party founder Bal Thackeray's criticism of the then prime minister. This significantly differs from the present situation where Opposition leaders accuse the Narendra Modi government of misusing Central agencies.

Joining hands with Congress in 2019, Thackeray attended his first Congress event, joined by NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. Pawar condemned PM Modi for bearing a grudge against the Nehru-Gandhi family, while Thackeray praised Rajiv Gandhi's leadership and criticized current political scenarios.
