Trump Considers Ending $7,500 EV Tax Credit, Eyes Musk for Advisory Role
Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, said he might end the $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicle purchases, calling it 'ridiculous.' He also suggested tapping Elon Musk for a cabinet or advisory role if Musk is willing.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Monday expressed his willingness to potentially end the $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicle (EV) purchases, labeling the incentive as 'ridiculous.' During an interview with Reuters post a campaign event in York, Pennsylvania, Trump criticized tax credits and incentives, suggesting they are generally not advantageous.
In a surprising move, Trump also mentioned that if elected, he would consider appointing Tesla CEO Elon Musk to a cabinet or advisory role, provided that Musk agrees to take on the position.
These statements highlight Trump's stance against certain environmental incentives and his interest in leveraging Musk's expertise in a potential administration.
