Former U.S. Representative George Santos, expelled from Congress last year, is poised to plead guilty to criminal corruption charges on Monday, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Santos, a Republican, faces multiple federal charges including laundering campaign funds to pay for personal expenses, unauthorized credit card charges, and receiving unemployment benefits while employed. He has been negotiating a plea deal with prosecutors since December. Sources indicate that Santos will plead guilty to multiple counts in federal court in Long Island, New York.

These accusations led lawmakers to expel him from the House of Representatives in December. Santos' career in Congress was plagued by scandal and allegations of dishonesty. A House Ethics Committee investigation found he spent campaign funds on personal luxuries like Botox and Hermes items. His former seat was filled by Democrat Tom Suozzi in a special election in February.
