Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi submitted his nomination on Monday for the Rajya Sabha by-election from Telangana. In attendance were Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC in-charge for Telangana Deepa Dasmunsi, along with Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, MPs, and other party members.

Ahead of the nomination, a Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting was organized at the Sheraton Hotel in Hyderabad on Sunday. The primary objective of the meeting was to introduce Abhishek Manu Singhvi to the MLAs and Congress party leaders.

On August 14, the Congress announced Singhvi as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha bypoll in Telangana. An AICC press release confirmed that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had approved Singhvi's candidature for the Council of States by-election from Telangana.

"Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the candidature of Abhishek Manu Singhvi as our candidate to contest the ensuing bye-elections to the Council of States from Telangana," stated Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal. Earlier this year, Singhvi lost the Rajya Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh.

The Election Commission of India has declared that the polling for the vacant Rajya Sabha seat in Telangana will be held on September 3. The by-election was necessitated following the resignation of former BRS MP K Keshava Rao, who recently rejoined the Congress.

K Keshava Rao, a former chief of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, left the party to join the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in 2013. After more than a decade, he has returned to the Congress fold.
