Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the national flag at Red Fort for the 11th consecutive time on Independence Day, marking a significant observance on the country's 78th Independence Day.

During his speech, Modi paid tributes to the freedom fighters who made immense sacrifices for India's freedom and offered condolences to families affected by recent national disasters. He emphasized the nation's debt of gratitude to these individuals.

This ceremony, his first Independence Day address of his third term, places Modi behind only Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi in the number of times a Prime Minister has delivered the address from Red Fort. He also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial before the ceremony.
