Following a strategic meeting at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence, Delhi Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai announced that the Aam Aadmi Party will commence a 'padayatra' on August 14. Minister Atishi will hoist the flag on August 15, representing the government in Kejriwal's absence due to his imprisonment.
Rai stated that the meeting's agenda was to devise a strategy for the forthcoming elections. "Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia emphasized the need to engage with the public vigorously. We will start the padayatra on August 14, while Sunita Kejriwal continues to convey Arvind Kejriwal's messages," he told ANI.
Adding to this, AAP MP Sandeep Pathak said, "The padayatra on August 14 is crucial as people want to meet Sisodia. Every MLA is fully committed to the elections. Despite BJP's efforts, our services in water, electricity, schools, hospitals, and mohalla clinics remain functional. We will demonstrate that breaking our party yields no benefits for the BJP."
Earlier, Manish Sisodia, released on bail, met with his Assembly constituency volunteers, praising them for their dedicated service in his absence. The Supreme Court granted him bail on August 9 after a lengthy incarceration related to the Delhi excise policy case.
The Delhi Assembly elections are slated for early 2025, with AAP aiming to retain dominance after securing 62 out of 70 seats in 2020, while the BJP holds eight and Congress none.
