Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has described the attack on Uddhav Thackeray's convoy in Thane as a 'reaction to action.' Thackeray was faced with protests by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers, who threw tomatoes and cow dung at his vehicle during a party workers' gathering at Gadkari Rangayatan auditorium.

Addressing the incident, Shinde questioned the origins of the conflict, noting that Shiv Sena (UBT) activists had previously targeted Raj Thackeray's convoy in Aurangabad, triggering the response. He emphasized that those abandoning the ideals of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray and Anand Dighe should expect such uncertainties.

In light of his own political revolt that led to the division within the Shiv Sena, Shinde defended his actions as necessary to preserve the party and its 'bow and arrow' symbol. The incident also follows a separate disruption in Beed city, where Sena (UBT) supporters threw betel nuts at Raj Thackeray's convoy.
