Senior leaders of Bangladesh's BNP emphasized the importance of Indo-Bangla bilateral relations independent of the Awami League and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who sought refuge in India. They welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's congratulatory message to the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus.
Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Abdul Awal Mintoo of BNP expressed hope for better bilateral ties while mentioning that India is within its rights to grant asylum to Hasina. Despite adverse reactions, they noted that relations with India have historically remained strong irrespective of the political party in power in Bangladesh.
Mintoo highlighted the importance of engaging in dialogue with India to resolve issues, dismissing anti-India campaigns as temporary incidents. There is a collective longing for an early return to democracy and normalization of relations under the interim leadership.
