In a significant political development, Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus was sworn in as the head of Bangladesh's interim government. The ceremony took place at the presidential palace 'Bangabhaban' in Dhaka and was attended by Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka, Pranay Verma.
Yunus, 84, took the oath of office administered by Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin. This transition comes three days after Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister amid violent protests and subsequently fled the country.
The new interim government, under Yunus's leadership, will be supported by a 16-member council of advisers. Among the advisers are key figures like Md. Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud, who have actively participated in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
