A plane crash on the rugged Kenai Peninsula in Alaska resulted in non-life-threatening injuries for a man and two children, authorities confirmed on Monday. The family was discovered amidst the wreckage of a small aircraft reported overdue the previous night.
According to the Alaska State Troopers, the pilot and two juveniles, all immediate family members, were found near the east side of Tustumena Lake. After the plane's wreckage was identified, they were quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation.
The Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser was last reported late Sunday, with Alaska officials suspecting its whereabouts near Tustumena Lake or the Kenai Mountains. The area surrounding the 24,200-hectare lake is notorious for sudden, dangerous winds, as described by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
