Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has urged veteran BJP leader B S Yediyurappa to retire from public life over his involvement in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Siddaramaiah questioned Yediyurappa's moral authority to demand his resignation concerning the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scandal, noting that Yediyurappa faces serious accusations.
Yediyurappa had recently insisted that Siddaramaiah step down before the BJP-JD(S)' protest march from Bengaluru to Mysuru to protest the alleged fraudulent site allotments by MUDA. The foot march aims to shed light on the alleged corruption involving land distributions, including a site allotted to Siddaramaiah's wife.
Siddaramaiah highlighted that a POCSO case charge sheet has been filed against Yediyurappa based on a complaint by a 17-year-old girl's mother. The case is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department, with proceedings lodged in the Fast Track Court.
Siddaramaiah stressed that there should be merit in any allegations against him to warrant his resignation. He mentioned that he will elaborate on Yediyurappa's involvement in other cases during a Congress rally in Mysuru.
