Kamala Harris Makes History with Democratic Presidential Nomination
Kamala Harris secured the Democratic presidential nomination, becoming the first Indian-American to achieve this milestone. She chose Minnesota Gov Tim Walz as her running mate. Harris is set to face Republican candidate Donald Trump in the upcoming general elections. The Democratic National Convention will certify her nomination in August.
Kamala Harris, of Indian and African heritage, has officially clinched the Democratic presidential nomination. She is the first Indian-American to receive such a nomination from a major U.S. political party and has selected Minnesota Gov Tim Walz as her running mate.
Harris, 59, will go head-to-head with Republican presidential hopeful and former President Donald Trump, 78, in the general elections scheduled for November 5.
Harris finalized her choice of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, 60, as her running mate just before a Philadelphia rally, sources told the Washington Post. Walz, a former congressman and current governor, joins Harris after she received overwhelming support—99% of delegate votes—in an extensive online voting process. The Democratic National Convention will convene from August 19 to 22 in Chicago to finalize the nomination.
