In a bold declaration, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asserted on Monday that his administration is ready to engage in both legal and political battles if Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot dismisses the Cabinet's advice to rescind the 'show-cause notice' in connection with the MUDA site allotment scam, granting permission for prosecution instead.
Speaking to reporters, Siddaramaiah emphasized that the show-cause notice should be withdrawn and the petition by activist T J Abraham seeking prosecution be rejected. 'We are ready to fight legally...both legally and politically we will fight,' he stated. The Governor had initially issued the notice on July 26, demanding a response to the allegations within seven days.
The Congress, led by Siddaramaiah, is preparing to unite against opposition efforts by the BJP and JD(S) to destabilize the government. These developments follow the party's strong advisement to the Governor to withdraw the notice, despite his potential powers to approve prosecution. Venugopal and Surjewala have assured the high command's support in this situation.
