A key aide of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Ashok Choudhary, has issued a sharp rebuttal to criticisms raised by Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav. The exchange comes in the midst of Yadav's announced state-wide tour to highlight the alleged shortcomings of the NDA government.

In a press conference, Yadav had criticized the Nitish Kumar administration for failing to uphold heightened reservations for disadvantaged castes and not securing special status for Bihar. He accused the government of allowing the crime rate to spiral. Choudhary, a senior JD(U) leader and current rural works minister, dismissed these claims, criticizing Yadav's party RJD for its historical failures.

Choudhary emphasized that under Nitish Kumar's tenure, Dalits received constitutional reservation rights and significant economic progress was achieved. He also mentioned that the state government is actively challenging legal setbacks regarding reservation policies in the Supreme Court. Choudhary further pointed out that the RJD, including Yadav's father Lalu Prasad, failed to secure special status or packages for Bihar during its time in power.
